This is the summer residence of King Frederick Augustus I. of Saxony and dates from the 18th century. The Schlosshotel, which is part of the castle complex, is located right next to the summer residence of the King. It impresses with its private charisma and is owned by the Zepp family.
He ruled as elector of Saxony in 1763-1806. He was the appointed king of this region in 1806, and in 1807-1815 he was given the power as a duke of Warsaw. He inherited the castle in Pillnitz from his Grandfather, King Augustus II (the Strong), and used it as a summer residence on the river.
